How to Make and Cancel an Appointment

Non-Urgent/Routine Appointments

Appointments can be made in advance however they soon become booked, so please allow plenty of notice. Only book one appointment per person. If you feel you need more time with the doctor ask the receptionist for a longer appointment. You may choose to see any of the five doctors but try and avoid changes especially during the course of one illness or problem. We do try to keep appointment times but in the nature of the job there are bound to be delays - please be patient, it may be your turn next for extra time with the doctor.

If you cannot keep your appointment, please cancel in time for it can then be given to another patient.

If you wish to have a same day appointment or an emergency appointment please telephone the surgery as early as possible to be allocated a consultation time. The telephone lines are open from 8.00am - 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

Telephone Advice

Telephone: 01443 740447
Fax: 01443 740228

The practice has four lines which all become very busy in the morning, especially between 8.00 and 10.30am. So if your call can wait, please phone in the early afternoon. Please note the practice will not accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions as this can lead to errors and blocks the telephone lines.

Telephone Consultations

During busy periods telephone consultations will be suspended, however during these times please feel free to ask one of our receptionists to relay a message on your behalf to one of our GPs. This member of staff can then ring you back with the GPs response. All our staff are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Please note these consultations are for advice only and not suitable for unwell patients.

GP Registrars and Medical Students

We are a training practice, and you may be offered an appointment with a GP registrar. These doctors are fully qualified and will have had experience in several hospital specialties. They are completing their specialist training as a GP.
We also teach medical students and sometimes you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse with a student present.

You will always be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you may ask for the student to withdraw if you prefer to have your consultation in private.

Chaperones

The Health Centre is committed to providing a safe comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance.

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.

If you would like to see a copy of our chaperone policy or have any questions or comments regarding this please contact Ann Brown, Practice Manager.
