How to Request a Home Visit
If you are too ill to attend surgery you can request the doctor to call. We appreciate that illness cannot be timed, but for non-urgent cases please telephone before 10.30am so that the doctors' visits can be planned. If the problem is urgent please make it clear to the receptionist. For all calls you will be asked to give brief details and your telephone number.
Try to be reasonable in your request for home visits. It is much easier for the doctor to assess and examine you in the surgery. Remember that in the time it takes to do a home visit he could see about five patients in the surgery. Lack of transport is not a valid reason for requesting a home visit. Transport could be sought from possibly a neighbour, relative or taxi service.
